Veteran newsman Harry Reasoner was born in Dakota City and spent much of his boyhood here; his parents taught school here. Reasoner went on to CBS-TV where he was a correspondant for 60 Minutes. When he died, he was buried at the Union Cemetary.

Frank Gotch grew up near here and was undefeated during his
career. He was the richest athlete of his day and met movie stars and presidents. A plaque commemorates him at the Frank Gotch Park at  2568 Gotch Park Road. Camping available. Call
