Island Park is located on two islands in the Rock River on the northeast edge of town. It's a popular spot with anglers who line the shores to catch a variety of game fish. One highlight of the park is the Mini-Zoo, where visitors can see a display of birds and indigenous wildlife. The park also features an impressive zero-depth swimming pool with two huge waterslides..S perfect place for picnics. Camping available.

A sure sign of spring is when Slade's Drive-Inn, 701 South Union Street, opens its doors for another season. One of a dying breed of drive-in restaurants that have been driven out of business by fast-food chains, Slade's offers a huge variety of grilled sandwiches, appetizers and ice cream treats. The Pizza Ranch is a local favorite, part of a chain of restaurants that started just down the road in Hull. The Pizza Ranch offers a salad bar, a wide-variety of toppings (the dough bakes up like a hand-tossed crust), and deep-fried chicken. A all-you-can-eat buffet is offered at lunchtime and on some evenings.

Rock Island Depot, caboose, livery stables,
windmill, and completely renovated and furnished Victorian House. Open Sundays 2-5 p.m. as well as holidays. Call 712-472-3101.
Society or the Chamber of Commerce can provide you with some directions,
but it's most fun to stumble on these charming pieces of art, including the second-floor mural that depicts a young lawyer working late in his office above main street.
Bridge, built in 1894 under the direction of Frederick von Emperger.It was the first
reinforced concrete arch bridge in the United States and was relocated to its current location in 1964. It's only open to pedestrian traffic these days, and is located in a compact roadside park.

On Friday nights throughout the summer months, Rapid Speedway offers Sprint, Stock, Hobby Stock, and Sportsmen class dirt-track auto races at the track located on the east side of Rock Rapids on the fairgrounds.  There are also special "Figure-8" races during Heritage Days and the Lyon County Fair. 
If you're in town on Sunday morning, head to the United Methodist Church, 302 S Carroll St,, to see one of the world's finest musical instruments, an Iowa-made Dobson Organ. The Lake View company has installed organs in some of the world's great music halls. But in its early years, it gained a reputation for excellence by installing organs at churches around the midwest.
